.KEY MESSAGES...
Updated at 622 AM CDT Thu Mar 26 2026

- Very warm on Thursday with record highs possible.

- Medium to high chance for showers Friday, mainly north of I-40.
Most locations can expect no more than 0.2" of rain.

- Fair weather this weekend with above-normal temperatures next
  week.

.SHORT TERM...
(Tonight through Friday Night)
Issued at 1145 PM CDT Wed Mar 25 2026

Thursday will bring the warmest temperatures of the week to Middle
Tennesse as ridging to our west gradually shifts toward our
region. Highs in the 80s are expected west of the Plateau which
could approach or even break record highs.

A very low amplitude shortwave will pass to our north Thursday
night into Friday and an associated cold front will dip into our
region Friday morning. This will bring a band of showers and
perhaps a storm to Middle Tennessee. However, forcing along the
front will be decreasing and there`s little support aloft as well.
Any activity will be in a weakening phase. While PoPs remain
medium to high (40-90%), rain amounts are on the lighter side
(<.2"). Cold advection will sweep across the area Friday night.

&&

.LONG TERM...
(Saturday through next Thursday)
Issued at 1145 PM CDT Wed Mar 25 2026

Fair weather and cooler temperatures are expected this weekend
amidst a post-frontal airmass. High pressure will yield stable
weather into early next week, though air mass modification should
occur starting Monday with return flow after the surface ridge
moves east. Deep-layer ridging is forecast to favor areas across
the Southeast CONUS early to mid week which is a notable change in
the synoptic pattern compared to the last couple of weeks.
This ridging will favor above-normal temperatures across Middle
Tennessee through the end of the forecast period and likely
longer per the CPC 6-10 day temperature outlook.

.AVIATION...
(12Z TAFS)
Issued at 622 AM CDT Thu Mar 26 2026

VFR conditions continue this taf cycle. Southwesterly winds will
increase this morning to 10-14 kts sustained with gusts up to 25
kts. Low-level wind shear will increase overnight into Friday
morning ahead of a cold front that will bring showers and lower
cigs to all Middle TN terminals.
